Our Story
Rule Out Therapy was created for adults navigating psychological complexity that does not fit into simple labels.
Many therapy models focus on symptom relief alone. While symptom management can be important, it often fails to address the deeper dynamics driving anxiety, identity strain, moral conflict, sexual tension, shame, ambition, or existential confusion. People are frequently given diagnoses or coping tools without fully understanding the structure beneath their distress.
Rule Out Therapy exists to slow that process down. Before assuming what something “is,” we rule out what it might not be. We work primarily with high-functioning adults who feel internally conflicted — people who think deeply, question themselves, and sense that their struggles have layers. Many of our clients are navigating tension around power, sexuality, morality, ambition, faith, class mobility, or identity. They are not looking for reassurance alone. They want clarity.

This practice integrates diagnostic precision with depth-oriented psychotherapy. That means we consider medical, psychiatric, developmental, relational, and existential factors before arriving at conclusions. Symptoms are examined in context — not isolated from history, personality structure, or environment.

Depth psychology allows us to explore unconscious patterns, defensive structures, shame, aggression, longing, and meaning. Psychoanalytic thinking helps identify repetitions that clients cannot see alone. Existential work addresses responsibility, choice, and the anxiety of freedom.

Unlike purely skills-based approaches, this therapy is not about quick behavioral correction. And unlike purely abstract analysis, it is not about endless interpretation. It is structured, rigorous, and relational. Complex problems deserve disciplined thinking. At Rule Out Therapy, the goal is not to simplify you. It is to understand you accurately — and then help you move.
